India Automobile Sales - May 2015

 

  • Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), the maker of successful sedan City, recorded a monthly domestic sales of 13,431 units in May 2014 registering a growth of just 1% compared to 13,362 units in the corresponding month last year.The company sold 26,067 units during April - May'15 as against 24,402 units sold during the same period last year, marking a growth of 7%.
  •  Ford India's registered a 22 percent fall in its May sales at 4,726 vehicles, against 6,053 units in the same month last year, The exports, however, grew 12 percent to 6,988 vehicles compared to 6,235 units in May 2014.Ford India sold 11,714 vehicles in combined domestic wholesales and exports in May, compared to12,288 vehicles in the corresponding month last year.
  • Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today reported marginal 2 per cent decline in total sales at 12,965 units in May 2015.It had sold 13,228 units during the same month last year. In the domestic market, TKM sold 11,511 units in May 2015 as compared to 11,831 units in the same month last year 2014, the company said in a statement.
  • Iconic motorbike-maker Royal Enfield on Monday reported a 41.35 per cent jump in total sales at 35,354 units last month as against 25,010 units in the same period last year.Domestic sales also surged 41.23 per cent to 34,615 units last month from 24,509 units in May 2014, the company's parent Eicher Motors said in a filing to the BSE.
  • India's leading car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has reported a 13 percent increase in its domestic sales in May 2015, selling 102,359 vehicles compared to 90,560 in the month a year before. Its highest sales came from the compact segment (Swift, Ritz, Celerio and Dzire) which clocked 41,926 units. This is 5.7 percent lower than May 2014's 44,455 vehicles. It's mini segment which includes Alto and Wagon R sold 35,062. 
  •  Hyundai Motor India Ltd, the country's second largest car manufacturer registered a domestic sales of 37,450 units which is 3.4 percent higher than in the same month last year. The Korean auto maker also exported around 15,065 units with cumulative sales of 52,515 units for the month of May 2015. Hyundai is the largest car exported from India with its Grand i10 being its highest exported car.
  • Hero MotoCorp Ltd, India's largest maker of motorcycles and scooters, said on Monday its sales for the month of May fell 5.4 percent from a year earlier.Hero sold 569,876 two-wheelers in May versus 602,481 vehicles in May 2014.Since its split from Japan's Honda Motor Co in 2011, Hero has been investing heavily in technology to develop new bikes and increasing its push into overseas markets.
  • Tata Motors today reported a 5.21% increase in total sales at 39,496 units vehicles in May as compared to 37,538 units in the same period last year.Domestic sales of Tata Motors' commercial and passenger vehicles remained flat 34,818 units in May, Tata Motors said in a statement.
  • Ashok Leyland, the commercial vehicle manufacturer, has reported an increase of 40% in sales in May 2015 to 9,294 units as against 6,632 units sold in the same period of last year. The company has experienced a rise of 41% in its medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) products segment to 6,892 units in May. The company’s light commercial vehicle (LCV) witnessed a rise of 37% to 2,402 units in May 2015.
  • German carmaker Volkswagen announced a 57% increase in sales in May 2015 at 4,167 units as compared to 2,657 units sold in May 2014. 'This increase in sales comes on the back of the recent successful launch of the new Jetta. The Volkswagen Polo, the only hatchback in its segment, also continues to contribute to Volkswagen's increase in sales', the company claimed in a media release. 
  • Atul Auto has registered 7.05% growth in its May2015 sales. The company has sold 3,006 units in the month against 2,808 units sold in May 2014.Atul Auto is a leading manufacturer of 3-Wheeled Commercial Vehicles in the state of Gujarat, presently engaged in the manufacturing of Three Wheelers like 6-seater Auto Rickshaws, Pick-Up Vans and Chassis of Passenger Vehicles.
  •  Mahindra & Mahindra on Monday reported a 3 per cent decline in total sales at 36,706 units in May.The auto maker company had sold 37,869 units in the same month last year, it said in a statement.In the domestic market, its sales were down 6 per cent at 33,369 units last month as against 35,499 units in the same month of last year.Exports were up 40.8 per cent at 3,337 vehicles as against 2,370 units in the same period a year ago.
  • Two-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) on Monday reported a 3.28 per cent increase in total sales at 3,67,226 units in May.The company had sold 3,55,530 units in the corresponding month last year, HMSI said in a statement. HMSI's motorcycle sales, however, declined 9.54 per cent to 1,38,140 units last month from 1,52,714 units last year.

  • Suzuki Motorcycle India, a subsidiary of one of the world's leading two-wheeler manufacturer Suzuki Motor Corporation, registered a 3.64 percent increase in May 2015 with sales of 33,287 vehicles as compared to May 2014 where it sold 32,117 units. Suzuki Motorcycles has maintained a constant growth over the past few years.
  • TVS Motor Company recorded a 6% growth in sales for the month of May 2015 with total sales increasing from 206,813 units recorded in the month of May 2014 to 220,079 units in the month of May 2015. The company's total exports grew by 22% with sales increasing from 35,649 units in the month of May 2014 to 43,595 units in May 2015.
  • VE Commercial Vehicles reported 7.6 per cent increase in total sales in May at 4,035 units, as against 3,750 units in the same month last year.Eicher branded trucks and buses have recorded total sales of 3,962 units in May 2015 as compared to 3,685 units in the same month last year, up 7.5 per cent, the company said in a statement.
  • Home-grown auto major Mahindra & Mahindra today reported a 19.56% decline in its tractor sales at 19,257 units in May as against 23,940 units in the same month last year.Domestic tractor sales in May stood at 18,245 units against 23,132 units in the year-ago month, down 21.12%, the company said in a statement.
  • Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd announced sales figures for May 2015. Sales during the past month stood at 12,415 units. Domestic sales stood at 10,428 units and exports were at 1,987 units. Their sales in May 2014 were at 15,878 units.
  • Bajaj Auto Limited also reported lower sales in May 2015 as compared to May 2014. The company sold 313,020 units in May 2014 and 301,862 units in May 2015 reporting a 4 percent decline in motorcycle sales. Commercial vehicle sales during May 2015 increased 13 percent to 43,576 units as against 38,416 units sold in May 2014 taking total sales to 345,438 units, a 2 percent decline as compared to 351,436 units sold in the same month of the previous year.
