  •  Mahindra & Mahindra will launch a new light commercial vehicle named Jeeto by the end of this month to take on homegrown rival Tata's popular minitruck Ace Zip.The company which has seen decline in sales in the light commercial vehicle segment during the last two years is hoping that it will see a turnaround with the new model coming in and cashing in on an expected rebound in the market.(ETauto)

  • Honda Motor Co. is setting aside another $363 million to fund a growing recall of air bags that can explode with too much force.The automaker announced the spending Friday in Tokyo and said the additional costs will show up in revised earnings for the fiscal year that ended March 31. But the costs won’t affect the company’s dividend or earnings forecasts, it said in a statement.(financial express)
  • According to a report, Suzuki Motorcycle India is working on a new 250cc sportsbike - the Gixxer 250 - that will be unveiled at 2016 Delhi Auto Expo in February. The Suzuki Gixxer 250 will take on the likes of KTM 200 Duke and Mahindra’s upcoming Mojo.Power for the Gixxer 250 will come from a single-cylinder 250cc engine that will be developed in India with inputs from the company’s Japanese HQ. This powertrain will be mated to a 6-speed transmission, and deliver an estimated power output between 25bhp – 28bhp.(cartrade.com)
  • Buoyed by good sales in India last fiscal, Japanese carmaker Honda is confident of repeating the double-digit growth this year, pinning hopes on its soon-to-be -launched premium hatchback Jazz to add to the momentum.Present in India through its wholly-owned arm -- Honda Cars India, the company had posted a sales growth of 40.73 per cent in domestic market in 2014-15 at 1,89,062 units as against 1,34,339 units in the previous fiscal."We are eyeing double digit sales growth this fiscal. We are very confident of Jazz doing well here," Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) Senior Vice-President (Marketing and Sales) Jnaneswar Sen told .(Etauto)
  • Tata Motors and Fiat might be planning to establish a combined SUV line-up, in what might be a path-breaking partnership in the automobile industry in India. It has been reported that the two companies will invest around Rs 3000 crores for establishing this joint set-up. The pre-set capacity of the assembly line has been decided to be made around 1 lakh units. It was reported "While Tata Motors will look to manufacture its Q501 and Q502 SUVs from the line, Fiat is expected to use it for its Jeep models,"(cartrade)
  • Mahindra 2-Wheelers has silently launched a new front disc brake variant of the Centuro commuter motorcycle in the country, priced at Rs. 52,210/- (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). The new variant sits on top of the motorcycle’s lineup comprising of the Rockstar, N1 and O1 variants and gets a single front petal disc brake along with the features from the 01 trim.
