World Best selling Small Cars - 2014


As per a report published in Hindustan times yesterday , Maruti Alto is the "World Best Selling Small Car ". Another car from same manufacture "Swift" was also in the list of 6th No.

  • The Maruti Alto is the Indian-built version of the fifth generation Alto, manufactured by Maruti Suzuki. It was launched in the local Indian market on 27 September 2000  although the Alto nameplate had been successfully used to export the Maruti Zen to Europe from India since around 1994 having captured over 40% market share in Belgium and 33% in Netherlands by 1998.I it is the best-selling hatchback in India. Since 2006, It is India's largest selling car and crossed the 1 million production figure in February 2008 becoming the third Maruti model to cross the million mark in India after Maruti 800 and Maruti Omni and fourth overall joining Hyundai Santro.
  • The Daihatsu Tanto was introduced at the 2003 Tokyo show as a concept vehicle based on the Daihatsu Move's 'tall' body style. The car was introduced into the Japanese market in 2003. The Tanto is a Kei car. Among the main features of this car is an ordinary right side rear door while on the left side, the rear door is a sliding door without an intermediate pillar. The Tanto Custom was added in July 2005.
  • The Honda Fit, also marketed as the Honda Jazz, is a four-door, front-engine, front-wheel drive subcompact car manufactured and marketed by Honda since 2001 and now in its third generation. Marketed worldwide and manufactured at ten plants in eight countries,[1] sales have reached almost 5 million by the middle of 2013.Sharing Honda's global small car platform with the CityAirwaveMobilioMobilio SpikeFreed and Freed Spike, the Fit is noted for its one-box or monospace with an interior packaging concept enabling a reconfigurable cargo volume competing with larger vehicles. The nameplate "Jazz" is used in Europe, Oceania, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and most parts of Asia, while the name "Fit" is used in Japan, China and the Americas.
