  • Nissan India today launched the second product from the budget brand, Datsun. The Datsun Go+ was launched with prices starting at INR 3.79 lakhs, ex-Showroom, Delhi. The Go+, based on the Go hatchback, is powered by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine capable of 68 PS (67 bhp) at 5,000 rpm and 104 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox.   • Audi has opened 2015 by launching its most powerful as well as the fastest road car, the limited edition Audi R8 LMX in India.   • Hero MotoCorp has sold around 2 lakh two-wheelers in the markets outside India. The company has registered a 30 per cent growth selling over 201245 units in 2014. In comparison, the number of units sold in 2013 were 135184 units. Ever since Hero ended its alliance with Honda, the Gurgaon based manufacturer has been focusing on the international market. Hero MotoCorp has big plans for future as the company plans to work in over 50 countries by the year 2020. Hero MotoCorp has a production level of 6.65 million units as of now and the company intends to increase its target. It plans to sell over 10 per cent of its 12 million units in the international market by 2020.(cartrade.com)
  • Hyundai Motor India has discontinued the production of its popular hatchback, the Santro.Introduced in 1998 (sixteen years ago), the Santro had been a successful model for the company. It managed to take on established brands like the Maruti Zen, thanks to the additional interior space it offered due to the tall boy design coupled with a responsive engine and good reliability. The car helped Hyundai gain a foothold in the Indian market, which was dominated by Maruti Suzuki and was responsible for the company breaking in profits in a span of just seven months.   • Delhi High Court today extended the stay on the Competition Commission of India's (CCI) order levying a penalty of Rs 471 crore on Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) for allegedly abusing its dominant position in the spare parts market. Justice Rajiv Shakdher also restrained CCIfrom taking any "coercive measures" against the car-maker after it sought protection on the ground that other automobile manufacturers have already got relief from the division bench of the High Court and it be treated on par with them. (ETauto.com)

The much talked about Italian motorcycle maker Benelli has postponed the launch of its offerings in India to the third week of February from the original launch date of third week of January. The world’s oldest motorcycle maker announced its plans to enter the country late last year in a tie up with DSK Motowheels and also showcased the first 5 models that will be brought into the country via the CKD route.   • The much awaited hatchback Bolt from Tata Motors is finally all set to be launched in the domestic market next week. Based on the HORIZONNEXT philosophy the vehicle is expected to create quite a storm in the hatchback segment in India.
