  • According to a report on the Economic Times, Eicher Motors in collaboration with U.S.-based Polaris Industries is developing a new small vehicle which will target farmers, and the agricultural audience in general.   • Honda Cars India on Monday increased prices of its vehicles by up to Rs 60,000 following the expiry of reduced excise duty concessions and also to offset rising input costs. The move follows the government not extending excise duty concessions given to the auto industry and consumer durables sectors after the expiry on December 31, 2014.(businesstoday)
  •  Auto component maker Bharat Forge today said it has acquired France-based Mecanique Generale Langroise for 11.8 million euros (around Rs 90 crore). CDP Bharat Forge GmbH, a 100 per cent Germany-based subsidiary of Bharat Forge Ltd (BFL), has acquired 100 per cent equity shares of Mecanique Generale Langroise (MGL), the Pune-based firm said in a filing to the BSE. (ETauto.com)
  • TATA has officially announced that the hatchback will go on sale on January 22nd, 2015. The bookings for the car have already commenced at a token amount of Rs. 11,000.Set to rival against the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Suzuki Swift, the Tata Bolt hatchback will be the second product from the company’s HORIZONEXT umbrella. Based on the thoroughly modified X1 platform that also underpins the Zest compact sedan, the hatch will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options.(cartrade.com)
  • Struggling to make a mark in entry-level motorcycles, Bajaj Auto Ltdplans to launch two new brands in 2015 to gain share in a segment that accounts for nearly two-thirds of the motorcycle market. The launch will be a departure from the company’s strategy going back to 2010, in which it planned to use the Pulsarand Discoveras its umbrella brands. The change comes amid intense competition in the motorcycle market between market leader Hero MotoCorp Ltdand Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltdsince 2010 when the two partners split.   • Toyota is going to offer airbags as standard across its entire line-up in India. For starters, the company has already added airbags as standard to the Etios sedan and the Etios Liva hatchback, and will now offer the same on the base G trim of the Innova MPV as well. However, the base trim models may get just a driver airbag as standard instead of dual front airbags.   Barring the Innova, the rest of the line-up recently received facelifts and now the company will be updating the MPV too.   • Hyundai ix25, the compact crossover has scored 5/5 in C-NCAP in China. The new compact crossover was tested on four parameters -  100 per cent overlap front crash, 40 per cent overlap front crash, whiplash and side impact. In the 100 percent overlap frontal crash test that was carried out at a speed of 50 kmph, the ix25 scored 15.89 out of a maximum of 18. Carried out at speeds of 64 kmph, the 40 per cent overlap front crash test identical to testing procedures of the Global NCAP saw the ix25 scoring 14.11/18 points in this test.(carwale.com)

  • In its maiden overseas foray, the Gurgaon-based components manufacturer Jumps Auto Industries has acquired German firm Honasco Kunststofftechnik GmbH (Honasco) and its allied companies from the Joerg Schwarzbich Group. Jumps Auto is engaged in the manufacture of rotating electrical assemblies, including starter motors and alternators at its manufacturing facility in Gurgaon.
