  • Hyundai Motor India Ltd is ramping up production of the Creta, a compact sports utility vehicle it launched on 22 July, Rakesh Shrivastava, senior vice president, sales and marketing, said in a phone interview. The local arm of the Korean car maker is in the process of increasing production of the model from 5,000 units a month to 6,500, Shrivastava said, and the increase will help reduce the waiting period for the model by some two months. It currently has a waiting of six to eight months, depending on the choice of variant.(livemint)
  • Automaker Mahindra and Mahindra has rolled out a Rs 75 crore advertisement campaign for its two-wheeler business over the period of two months, which is the biggest marketing campaign by any Mahindra Group company in its history so far.The ad blitz is yet another attempt by the company to be part of the mainstream and shore up sales at the company's two-wheeler unit, which after seven years of operations holds just 1-2 percent market share and has accumulated losses of over Rs 1,000 crore.(ET auto)
  • The Mercedes-AMG s 63 sedan has been launched in India at a price of Rs. 2.53 crore (ex-showroom, Bangalore). This is the company's ninth AMG offering in India.The S 63 is based on the S-Class sedan. It comes with restyled bumpers, 19-inch AMG 10-spoke alloy wheels, AMG badges and a quad-exhaust system which distinguish it from the regular S-Class sedan.(team-bhp)

  • Maruti Suzuki India Ltd is once again the company that sells every second passenger vehicle in the country, according to data provided by lobby group Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.In July, the company sold 50% of the passenger vehicles in the country. Its sales were up 22.55% year-on-year to 110,000 units, while sales in the industry rose 11.43% to 222,000. During April-July, Maruti totted up its highest market share since 2001-02, selling 416,000 units, which is 47.51% of the total passenger vehicles sold in the country. (livemint)
  • Ford India today launched Ford Figo Aspire priced between Rs 4.90 lakh and Rs 8.24 lakh (ex-showroom price Delhi) to take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Honda in the fast growing compact sedan segment.The Figo Aspire will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options.The petrol option has two variants, powered by 1.2 litre and 1.5 litre engines, available at a price range of Rs 4.90 lakh and Rs 7.80 lakh.(financial express)
  •  Automotive supplier Continental has announced the availability of its Smart NOx sensor in India for heavy commercial vehicle manufacturers adopting SCR technology to reduce emissions, the company said in a statement.The nationwide phased rollout of BS IV regulations with On Board Diagnostics II (OBD II), scheduled to be completed by 2017, will see heavy commercial vehicle manufacturers introduce Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology to meet the stricter norms.(ETauto)
