Toyota reports 8% decline in sales in June 2015

Production loss for 6 days due to planned plant shutdown

Registers 19% growth in the first half of the year

Fortuner continues to lead the segment with 18% growth in first half of the year

 Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) sold 12,381 units in June 2015 compared to 13,398 units in June 2014. The company exported 1,917 units of Etios series last month.

Despite production shut down for the first six days of last month, in the domestic market, TKM sold 10,464 units in June 2015 as compared to 12,010 units in June 2014. There was limited production last month on account of planned annual plant shut down scheduled from 29th May to 6th June, for regular maintenance.

The company domestic sales grew by 19% in the first half of the year when compared to the same period in 2014. The sales grew with the launch of the New Innova, New Fortuner, and the recently launched Camry and Camry Hybrid. Along with all the other products Etios series and Corolla have also registered growth in the first half of the year.

The Fortuner continues to lead the segment with 18% growth in the first half of the year when compared to the same period in 2014. The Fortuner has been the leader of the segment since launch in 2009. With the launch of the New Fortuner in Jan 2015, it continues to delight customers and maintain its undisputed leadership position in the segment with 73% market share from Jan - May 2015.

With 113 units sold last month, the New Camry has already sold more than 300 units, within two months of the launch, as compared to 720 units sold in the whole of 2014. After the launch Camry hybrid constitutes 87% of total Camry sales showing the increased awareness and acceptance of Hybrid in India.

Mr. N Raja, Director and Senior Vice - President, Sales and Marketing said, "We sold 10,464 units in the domestic market last month, due to limited production on account of the planned shutdown. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to our customers due to this. We currently have a waiting period of approx 25 - 30 days for the Innova and about 50 - 60 days for Fortuner. It is our endeavor to make the deliveries of vehicles on a timely basis.

Fortuner has been well appreciated by the customers and still remains the first choice in its segment. The Fortuner available in automatic and manual transmission in two wheel and four wheel drive gives a wide range of choice and caters to varied customer requirements."
