Indian Automobile Sales - June 2015


  • Maruti Suzuki  sold 1,14,756 vehicles in June, a growth of 1.8 percent compared to 1,12,773 units sold in the same period last year.Domestic sales of the car maker increased 1.6 percent year-on-year to 1,02,626 units and exports grew by 2.7 percent to 12,130 units in the month gone by.
  • Royal Enfield maker Eicher Motors sold 37,341 motorcycles in June, a whopping growth of 48 percent compared to 25,303 units sold in the year-ago period. The growth was largely aided by models with engine capacity upto 350cc, which showed a 50 percent rise in sales at 33,048 units.
  • TVS Motor Company has reported n 8% growth in sales for the month of June 2015 with total sales increasing from 205,403 units recorded in the month of June 2014 to 222,099 units in the month of June 2015.Total two-wheeler sales grew by 7% to 211,002 units in June 2015 from 196,486 units recorded in June 2014. Domestictwo wheeler sales increased by 5% to 177,769 units in June 2015 from 169,805 units in June 2014.
  • Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. announced a growth of 26% in domestic sales in June 2015 as compared to the corresponding period last year. The company sold 51,432 units in June 2015 as against 40,666 units sold in June last year in the domestic market thereby registering a domestic sales growth of 26%.In the Export markets the company sold 14,708 units in June 2015 as compared to 12,819 units sold in the same month last year achieving a growth of 15%. The overall sales stood at 66,140 units in June 2015 while 53,485 units were sold in June 2014, thereby registering a 24% overall growth.
  • Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of one of the world’s leading two-wheeler manufacturer Suzuki Motor Corporation, registered a32 % increase in their June 2015 sales figures as compared to June 2014. Suzuki Motorcycle sold 32,628 units in June 2015 as opposed to 24,812 units in June 2014, recording a substantial growth in its overall sales. Suzuki Motorcycles has maintained a consistent growth path over the last couple of years.
  • Mahindra & Mahindra's Farm Equipment Sector, announced its sales numbers for June 2015.
  • Domestic sales in June 2015 stood at 23,899 units compared to 28,893 units in June 2014. Total tractor sales (domestic + exports) for June 2015 were 25,090 units compared to 29,884 units in June 2014. Exports for the month were 1,191 units, registering a growth of 20%.
  • Tata Motors continued to witness strong growth in certain key segments as passenger cars (excluding UV’s), M&HCV and Exports grew by 44%, 18% and 32%,respectively, year-on-year; with the total commercial and passenger vehicles sales (including exports) in June 2015 of 40,870 vehicles, a growth of 6% over 38,574 vehicles sold in June 2014. The company’s domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for June 2015 were at 35,823 nos., growth of 3% over 34,760 vehicles sold in June 2014.
  • Escorts Ltd Agri Machinery  Segment (EAM)  sold 6.238 tractors in June 2015 against 6,689 tractors in June 2014. Domestic sales in June 2015 stood at 6,139 tractor against 6,349 in June 2014. Export for the month of June 2015 at 99 tractors against 340 tractors in June 2014.
  • Hyundai Motor India Ltd, the country’s leading premium car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter registered the domestic sales of 36,300 units and exports of 15,762 units with cumulative sales of 52,062 units for the month of June 2015.
  • Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicle, the 50:50 joint venture between Eicher Motors and Volvo, registered a 1.8% fall in sales with 4163 units sold. In June 2014, the sales stood at 4242 units.This figure includes sales of Eicher Motors, which stood at 4063, and sales of Volvo trucks which was at 100 units. While the Eicher Motors' trucks sales dropped from 4187, Volvo trucks sales went up to 100 trucks fromm 55 units in June 2014.
  • Hinduja Group's flagship company Ashok Leyland today reported 41 per cent hike in total sales of commercial vehicles at 10,461 units in June. It had sold 7,411 units in the same period last year. Sales of heavy and medium commercial vehicles rose by 46 per cent at 8,048 units in June as against 5,501 units in the year-ago period, the company said in a filing to the BSE
  • Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) said its sales fell 8% in June this year compared to last year due to maintenance downtime at its factory.“We sold 10,464 units in the domestic market last month, due to limited production on account of the planned shutdown. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to our customers due to this. We currently have a waiting period of approx 25 – 30 days for the Innova and about 50 – 60 days for Fortuner. It is our endeavor to make the deliveries of vehicles on a timely basis,” said N Raja, Director and Senior Vice – President, Sales and Marketing.The company sold 12,381 vehicles in the month. In the domestic market, Toyota sold 10,464 units in June 2015 as compared to 12,010 units in June 2014. The company exported 1,917 units of Etios series last month.
  • Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, registered monthly domestic sales of 18,380 units in June 2015 against 16,316 units in the corresponding month last year, registering  a growth of 13%.The company sold 44,447 units during April – June ’15 as against 40,718 units sold during the same period last year, marking a growth of 9%.
  • Ford India sold 7,979 vehicles in combined domestic wholesales and exports in June, compared to 11,935 vehicles in the corresponding month last year. June domestic wholesales stood at 4,527 vehicles against 7,258 units in the same month last year, while exports were 3,452 vehicles compared to 4,677 units in June 2014.
  • Volkswagen, Europe’s largest carmaker sold 4,039 units in June 2015 as compared to 3,079 units sold in the corresponding month, the previous year, marking an increase of 31% in overall monthly sales and an increase of 19% in Jan-June 2015.The increase is one of the biggest reported by any auto maker for June, though the base is small.The company attributed the increase to the recent successful launches of the New Vento and the New Jetta.The Volkswagen Polo, the only hatchback in its segment that comes with a 4-star NCAP safety rating for adult occupants, also continues to contribute to Volkswagen’s increase in sales, it said.
  • Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd. (MTWL), part of the USD 16.9 billion Mahindra Group, today announced its sales numbers for June 2015, which stood at 9,704 units.The company’s domestic sales were 8,697 units, while exports were 1,007 units.In the coming months, Mahindra will finally launch the much delayed 300cc Mojo sportsbike in India. Mass production has already commenced.
  • Bajaj Auto, India's third-largest two-wheeler manufacturer, reported an 8 percent jump in its overall sales in June, selling 3,31,317 units. This is up from 3,05,465 units sold in June 2014. The sales include both two-wheeler and three-wheeler sales.Bajaj Auto sold 2,87,582 motorcycles in June 2015 as compared to 2,62,202 units in the same month, the previous year which is a 10 percent jump. However, its year-to-date sales (April to June) motorcycle remained flat at 8,75,235 units, compared to 8,74,858 in the same period last year.
