  • Jaguar Land Rover India Pvt. Ltd will be assembling the Range Rover Evoque at its Pune facility, the company said in a statement on Tuesday. The move it said will support sales growth in India. This will be the fourth vehicle to be assembled at the plant joining the Freelander 2, Jaguar XF and XJ. The local assembly, said Rohit Suri, president of Jaguar Land Rover India, will help price the model more competitively starting at Rs.48.73 lakh ex-showroom Mumbai (Pre-Octroi) The Range Rover Evoque will be available in a 2.2 Litre SD4 Diesel engine, delivering a maximum power output of 140 kW @ 3,500 rpm and maximum torque of 420 Nm @ 2,000 rpm.   • Expanding its manufacturing footprint in India, Hero MotoCorp will be opening a new manufacturing plant in the country and has been allotted a land of 592 acres in the Chittoor district by the Andhra Pradesh government. Located in the Satyavedu Mandal’s Madannapalem village, the land is part of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation and the new facility will be established for manufacturing two-wheelers and spare parts attracting an investment of Rs. 1600/- crores.   •  Total manufacturer-level auto parts revenue in India will grow by a CAGR of 12.4 percent (2014-2021) to reach $16.5 billion by 2021, international research firm Frost & Sullivan said.In specific demand for routine maintenance parts such as motor oil, wiper blades and brake pads will increase at least 10 times faster across India than in North America and Europe.(ETauto)
  • German luxury car maker Porsche, has launched the Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS in India. GTS stands for Gran Turismo Sport.The GTS versions sit above the S variants of the two models. They have blackened bi-xenon headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), silky black gloss exterior lettering and 20-inch Carrera S wheels shod with 235/35 and 265/35 section tyres at the front and rear respectively. Both cars get standard sports seats and leather interiors with Alcantara elements.The Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS come with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) chassis, which allows the driver to set up the car for comfort or sportiness by pressing a button.(team-bhp)
  • Renault Nissan Automotive India (RNAIPL) today said it has appointed Colin Macdonald as the Managing Director with effect from April 1. Colin Macdonald began his career at Nissan in the Sunderland plant in 1991 and has been Deputy Managing Director of RNAIPL since January 2014. He will be responsible for the operations of the Renault-Nissan Alliance factory at Oragadam, near Chennai.(cartrade.com)
  • Isuzu India's facility at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh to manufacture pick-up trucks would start operations by April next year.A delegation led by Isuzu India Managing Director Takashi Kikuchi met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here today to update him on the progress with the manufacturing facility, a state government release said.During the meeting, Kikuchi informed Naidu that the company will manufacture pick-up trucks at the facility and that it would start operations by April 2016.(ETauto.com)
  • Italian two and three-wheeler major Piaggio, is planning the expansion of its motorcycle brands Aprilia and Moto Guzzi. As a part of the plan it is mulling the possibility of assembling motorcycles from the two brands in India.Piaggio's facility in Baramati, Maharashtra, has a yearly capacity of 1,50,000 units. The company builds Vespa scooters at this plant. However, since the scooters are not selling at a very fast pace, the plant is largely underutilised. If the company uses this plant to assemble its motorcycles, it will not only bring the utilisation level of the plant up, but also help the company price the bikes more competitively. (team-bhp)
