  • After months of tests, speculations and spy shots; the 2015 Hyundai Elite i20 has officially been launched in India, priced from Rs. 4.89 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). India is the first market to get the second generation i20, while the global debut of the hatchback will take place at the Paris Motor Show in October this year. Christened as the ‘Elite i20’, the hatchback has been designed at Hyundai’s R&D facility in Russelsheim, Germany and engineered at the automaker’s new Nurburgring test centre.(motorbeam.com)
  • BMW India have launched the 7 Series Signature edition in the country at an ex-Showroom price of INR 1.22 crores (pan-India).   • India's largest car exporter Hyundai has stopped shipments from its Chennai plant to Europe after shifting production of models for the continent to the Korean auto major's plants in Turkey and Czech Republic. The move will result in around 25 per cent reduction in overseas shipments from the company's Chennai plant this year at 1.9 lakh units compared to 2.53 lakh units last year. (economicstimes.com)
  • Bosch Ltd has announced its Q2 results which saw it post a net profit of Rs 307 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2014,  up 21 percent. Total income has increased from Rs 2,355 crore, up 3.6 percent over the year-earlier period. Domestic sales aere up 2.4 percent and exports grew 17.4 percent over Q2 of 2013. According to managing director Dr Steffen Berns, “Sales were subdued during the second quarter as a result of limited consumer demand, tight liquidity and reduced activity around the time of the May elections.” (autocarpro.in)
  • Italy's Fiat Group is finalising plans to launch its high-end sports car Maserati in India as it seeks to grab a larger slice of the country's surging demand for luxury cars.A person with direct knowledge of the company's plans said it is hoping that Maserati's rollout on the Indian roads will also help Fiat consolidate its brand in the country.   • Tata Motors Ltd, India's biggest automaker by revenue, on Monday beat forecasts as first-quarter net profit more than tripled on strong sales of its luxury Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles that continued to offset a drop in domestic sales.Tata Motors, part of the $100 billion Tata conglomerate, said consolidated net profit for the April-June quarter rose to Rs 5,398 crore ($882.31 million) compared with Rs 1,768 crore a year ago.(businesstoday.in)
  • Hyundai started the pre-launch bookings for the Elite i20 on August 1 and launched the car yesterday. The company has received over 4,600 pre-launch bookings for the hatchback, of which 2,600 are for the petrol variants and 2,000 for the diesel variant. (indianautoblogs.com)

  • GM India has taken one step further towards its drive for improving environmental performance by commissioning a new biogas facility at the state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Halol, Gujarat. Biogas will be generated from biodegradable waste of food, fruits and vegetable through anaerobic fermentation process. The biogas, which is considered to be a cost-effective renewable source of energy which is non-polluting and reduces landfills and greenhouse effect, will now be utilised in the canteen for cooking purpose, resulting in a more cost-effective solution.
