  • Tata Motors on Tuesday launched a passenger car, its first new offering in four years, in a bid to regain market share and plug losses in its domestic business.The car, called Zest, is a compact sedan built on a new platform and, in a departure from previous models, boasts user-friendly features such as touch-screen control panels.(ETauto.com)
  • Mercedes-Benz plans to replace conventional aluminium pistons in passenger car diesel engines with a new high-tech generation of pistons made of steel. The carmaker says the advantages they bring, when combined with the innovative Nanoslide cylinder bore coating technology, include even lower fuel consumption and even lower CO2 emissions.   • Credit Analysis & Research Ltd. (CARE) has upgraded credit rating of Mahindra and Mahindra to AAA. This triple A rating is the highest CARE AAA level of rating and conferred on M&M recognizing the company’s stronghold in financial services.   • Royal Enfield, the motorcycle division of Eicher Motors, is looking to enter new markets in Latin America and South East Asia in the next three years as it seeks to expand its presence in the emerging markets.The Chennai-based firm, which makes various popular motorcycle models including Bullet, Classic, Thunderbird and Continental GT, is also looking to scale up its production capacity to around 4 lakh units at its two facilities in Tamil Nadu by next year-end.   • Hyundai’s more popular mid-size sedan the Elantra (Avante is certain markets) is heading for a generation change and if the recent reports are to be believed, the next generation model could be launched as early as next year in its home market of South Korea. According to industry sources, the next generation Elantra (codenamed AD) will be available in the first half of 2015 in the Korean market and the automaker has commenced testing the vehicle and as seen in the spy shot above, the test mule is in its early stages.(motorbeam.com)

  • BMW India have confirmed that the 2015 BMW X3 (facelift) will launch on August 28. The pre-facelift model was launched in India in August 2011.The refreshed X3 had its global premiere earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show. The front fascia of the X3 now subscribes to the brand’s new design language with the larger headlights and kidney grille resembling that of the new X5.   • Fiat is reportedly chalking out plans to introduce its luxury car marquee, Maserati, in India.
