It also offers outstanding efficiency and refinement. The 2.8L variant is matched with a six-speed automatic transmission, which delivers an optimal balance of power, performance and fuel economy.
The engine supports the Trailblazer's powerful acceleration and straight-line performance, as well as the vehicle's towing and payload capacity.
The Duramax engine operates on the common-rail system, which is capable of up to 2,000 bar. This increases combustion efficiency, which translates to better performance, while reducing CO2 emissions and improving fuel consumption. The rear-wheel-drive Trailblazer provides fuel economy of 11.45 kilometers per litre as per CMVR Rule 115.
To extend the life of the engine and variable-geometry turbocharger, the 2.8L variant has added water cooling to its turbocharger and turbine housing, reducing operational heat – especially at high speeds.
Safety and Stability
Safety features in the Trailblazer include dual air bags, electronic stability control (ESC), anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), cornering brake control (CBC), hill start assist (HSA), hill descent control (HDC), traction control system (TCS), panic brake assist (PBA) and hydraulic brake assist (HBA).
Its robust body-on-frame architecture with the support of a five-link rear suspension lends it a combination of best-in-class luxurious ride and responsiveness. The use of coil springs throughout also provides the Trailblazer with better suspension articulation, a useful trait in off-road conditions, in addition to providing passenger car-like handling dynamics on the road.
In brief, the Trailblazer has ride and handling dynamics that match – and in many cases exceed – those of upper-segment vehicles. It caters to a wide range of driving styles and requirements with car-like response and premium ride quality while offering the off-road capability that some customers demand.
