- Automotive parts makerMotherson Sumi Systems will acquire Germany's Scherer
& Trier in a deal worth Rs 283 crore, a move that will help the company to
offer a diverse polymer products.The consideration payable is about 36 million

- After Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors’ foray into Philippines’
booming car industry, another major Indian automaker has decided to follow
suit. The automaker in question is Mahindra & Mahindra – a brand which
already enjoys a healthy presence in other global markets like Australia,

Philippines in partnership with The Colombian Group (TCG) which will act as the
Indian brand’s official distributor in the local region. The Colombian Group’s

- DSK Motorwheels, owned by the diversified conglomerate DSK
Group, plans to invest Rs 400 crore to set up a plant nearPune to manufacture recently unveiled superbikes of Italian

building a full new unit in Maharashtra, very close to our current plant in Pune. For a
start, we are looking at 120,000 units per shift and will be ready for

- Officials at Hyundai Motor India (HMIL), a wholly owned
subsidiary of South-Korea’s Hyundai Motor Company, are talking to the state government
of Rajasthan as the company is now aggressively scouting for land to set up its

- Ford India will recall 20,752 EcoSport cars in the country
to correct concerns about fuel and vapour line corrosion in the long-term.The

to raise prices of their cars by up to 5% from January, the companies have said

- Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) has announced a price hike
across the range effective from January 2015. The price hike ranges from INR
5,000 to 25,000 depending on the model. Commenting on the price hike, Mr.
Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. Vice President, Sales and Marketing said that the price
hike was due to “adverse market conditions, increase in input costs, high cost

- The Suzuki Inazuma was launched at a hefty price of Rs. 3.10
lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), and it failed to create any buzz in the market. The
vehicle also failed to generate volumes for the maker. With this price tag and
old-fashioned styling, the Inazuma could never manage to attract consumers.
In-fact the company did slash the prices of this entry-level performance
motorcycle by Rs. 1 lakh, thus making it more affordable. However, buyers
didn’t have much for this bike. Finally, the company decided to remove this

- The Ministry of Transport, Government of India has proposed
few changes in the Road Transport and Safety Bill pertaining to the stringent
recall norm. Earlier, the car makers were up in arms against the tough recall
norm, where Bill had provision about 100 complaints to force a recall. The
revised draft of the Bill has made no mention about the number of complaints,
much to the relief of the auto makers.The Bill has proposed to establish a
National Authority to deal with vehicle safety issues, where it has made
provision to empower the Authority to recall any faulty vehicle that could

- Auto component firm Pricol today said it will acquire a Brazil-based
auto component maker for making a foray into the Brazilian market. The
company, however, did not disclose financial details of the acquisition. "Company
at the meeting held on December 11, 2014, has proposed to acquire 99.99 per
cent of stake in a Brazil-based auto component manufacturing company through

- Audi India today launched the A3 Cabriolet at Rs 44.75 lakh
(ex-showroom, Delhi). The Cabriolet carries a higher price-tag than its sedan
counterpart because it will be fully imported by the carmaker as a CBU. This
soft-top iteration of the A3 was first showcased at the New Delhi Auto Expo
2014. In terms of design, the Cabriolet looks similar to the sedan. The fabric
roof of this two-door, four-seater can be retracted in less than 18 seconds,
and till speeds of up to 50kph. It retains the bi-xenon headlamps with daytime

- Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest car manufacturer has
firmed up a deal with Indian Army for the supply of 4,000 Gypsy SUVs, bidding
through a Government tender. Although the company has not revealed the value of

- Ceat Tyres today announced its plans to invest Rs 400 crore
in a state-of-the-art tyre plant in Butibori, Nagpur. In an event organised to
commemorate the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new plant, the chief
minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis laid the cornerstone for the plant
that will be set up in three phases. In the first phase (2014- 2016), Rs 400
crore will be invested. The completion of the phase one of the plant and the
first tyre rollout from the plant is slated for April 2016. This
state-of-the-art tyre plant will be spread across 60 acres of land and is

- As a part of its ongoing overseas expansion, Hero Motocorp
is planning to setup manufacturing plants in Brazil and Argentina, two of Latin
America’s largest two-wheeler markets. Hero Motocorp has already started
construction of its wholly owned manufacturing facility in Colombia
and will become the first Indian two wheeler maker to have manufacturing
presence in Latin America. Talking to PTI Mr. Pawan Munjal, MD and CEO, Hero
Motocorp, said that the company will set up a plant in Brazil, and is also

recalled 5,834 Corolla Altis sedans manufactured from June 15, 2010 to May 23,
2011. The recall is to fix the problem of engine oil seeping into the air
intake system.There have been no complaints pertaining to this fault and none

issues. Toyota dealerships will contact customers by issuing a letter or a
telephone call and the repairs will be carried out free of cost. Customers will

Automobile Sales India - November 2014
- Country's
largest car-maker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) today reported a 19.5 per
cent increase in total sales in November at 1,10,147 units as against
92,140 units in the same month last year.
- Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) today reported an increase of 8.7 per cent in total sales at 54,011 units in November 2014.The company had sold 49,681 units in the same month last year, it said in a statement.In the domestic market, Hyundai sold 35,511 units last month as compared to 33,501 units in November 2013, up six per cent.During the month, Hyundai’s exports increased 14.7 per cent to 18,500 units as against 16,180 units in the same period last year.

Motor Company posted a sales growth of 36% during the month of November
2014, with total sales increasing from 161,908 units recorded in the
month of November 2013 to 220,046 units in the month of November 2014.
- Toyota Kirloskar Motor today reported 11 per cent increase in total sales at 14,134 units in November 2014. The company had sold 12,748 units in the corresponding month of previous year, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) said in a statement.
- Honda Cars India today reported 64 per cent increase in domestic sales at 15,263 units in November. The company sold 9,332 units in November 2013, Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) said in a statement.
- Eicher Motors today said its motorcycle division Royal Enfield reported a 52 per cent jump in total sales in November at 27,542 units as against 18,131 units in the same month last year.
- Hinduja Group flagship company Ashok Leylandtoday reported a 44 per cent jump in total sales at 7,732 units for November, 2014, as against 5,375 units in the same month last year.
- Country's largest two-wheelermaker Hero MotoCorp today reported 3 per cent increase in its sales in November at 5,47,413 units. The company had sold 5,30,530 units of two-wheelers in November 2013.
- Ford India today reported an overall increase of 5.90 per cent in total sales at 12,762 units in November. It had sold 12,050 units in the same month of last year, Ford India said in a statement.

- Lumax Industries, one of India’s leading suppliers of auto
lighting equipment, plans to invest Rs 300 crore over a five-year period that
includes investment in technology and for expansion at its existing plants and
a likely future Gujarat facility, said Deepak Jain, managing director. He was
speaking at the 25th anniversary of the company’s listing on the Bombay Stock
Exchange. Jain said investments in technology will be about Rs 100 crore and
the company has made a start with Rs 25 crore. Over the past two years, the
company has invested Rs 160 crore in its Bawal and Bangalore plants and is
geared up for increased business from Maruti Suzuki, Honda Cars India and
two-wheeler business. In the South, the company has added Toyota Kirloskar
Motor as one of its newest customers. The company has a strong order book for
