Automobile sales - APRIL 2015 India - Updated with AL and Bajaj Sales


  • Honda Cars India today reported 14 per cent jump in its domestic sales at 12,636 units in April.The company had sold 11,040 units in April last year, Honda Cars India (HCIL) said in a statement.Last month, the company sold 827 units of small car Brio, 2,862 units of compact sedan Amaze, 689 units of Mobilio and 8,203 units of the mid-sized sedan City.

  • Premium two-wheeler manufacturer Royal Enfield, a unit of Eicher Motors Ltd  has posted a 42.4 per cent increase in total sales at 33,918 units in April. The Chennai-based company had sold 23,818 units during the same month of previous year, Royal Enfield said in a statement. 
  • Two-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today reported 8.56 per cent increase in total sales at 3,40,791 units in April.The company had sold 3,13,894 units in the corresponding month last year, HMSI said in a statement.HMSI's motorcycle sales, however, declined marginally to 1,31,291 units last month from 1,31,377 units last year.

  •  General Motors India today reported 31.87 per cent decline in sales at 3,612 units in April 2015. The company had sold 5,302 units in the same month of last year, it said in a statement. Commenting on the performance, General Motors India Vice President P Balendran said, "The overall customer sentiment has not picked up as expected and the rural markets are also facing challenging times. The fuel price hike from last night is also expected to impact demand going forward."
  • Suzuki Motorcycle India today reported 1 per cent rise in its April sales at 27,320 units.The company had sold 27,023 units in the same period of previous year."Although the two-wheeler industry in general has experienced a slight slowdown, Suzuki has experienced growth in sales," Suzuki Motorcycle India Executive Vice President Atul Gupta said in a statement.
  • Country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp today reported a 6.61 per cent dip in sales at 5,33,305 units in April.The company had sold 5,71,054 units in the same month last year, Hero MotoCorp said in a statement.The rural demand for automobiles has been adversely impacted by unseasonal rains witnessed in the month of March, it added.
  • Toyota India, officially known as Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd., subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan registered 63% sales growth in April 2015. Clocking 63% sales growth in April and 36% overall growth during the January to April 2015 period, the company attributes this increase to the popularity of its Etios series and the new Corolla Altis. During April 2015, Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) sold a total of 12,325 units up 63%, as compared to 7,562 units sold in April 2014 and exported 1,334 units registering 74% growth in exports YoY.
  • Hyundai Motor India on Friday reported a 2.6 per cent increase in total sales at 51,505 units in April.The company had sold 50,222 units in the same month last year, HMIL said in a statement.In the domestic market, Hyundai sold 38,601 units last month compared with 35,248 units in April 2014, up 9.5 per cent.However, the company's exports declined by 13.8 per cent to 12,904 units against 14,974 units last year.
  • Mahindra & Mahindra's total tractor sales including exports declined 13% for the month of April 2015. Its farm equipment business reported sales of 18,011 units in April 2015 as compared to 20,731 units in April 2014. The numbers were impacted mainly due to lower domestic sales. Domestic sales during the period under review stood at 17,006 units compared to 19,985 units during April 2014.
