  • Suzuki Motorcycle India on Tuesday launched a new variant of its flagship bike Gixxer, priced at Rs 83,439 (ex-showroom Delhi).The new variant - Gixxer SF comes with full fairing, which has been designed to give maximum wind protection to the rider. "We are confident that the Gixxer SF too will thrill young buyers across India and further strengthen our market position," Suzuki Motorcycle India Executive Vice President Atul Gupta told reporters in the national capital.(businesstoday)
  • The electric vehicle industry is kicking off the new financial year with a fresh start as investments, both from the industry as well as the government, start to pour in. New Motion, one of the world's largest smart charging companies, is investing 150 million (about `. 1,000 crore) in setting up a manufacturing facility in India and make India its global manufacturing hub. "In Europe there'll be 3 million electric vehicles in the coming 5 years. We expect the numbers in India to be much larger than that," said Ritsaart Montfrans, founder and CEO at New Motion."By building a manufacturing facility in India, we are trying to bring down the cost of charging -it needs to be affordable for India."(ETauto.com)
  • With the start of the new fiscal, North India has moved to Euro IV standard fuel. The move is expected to bring down the levels of particulate emissions from diesel vehicles. Euro IV diesel has a much lesser sulphur content (50 ppm) compared to BS III fuel (350 ppm).While the supply of Euro IV fuel has started in all north India cities, truck manufacturers are still not producing engines that can comply with the standards. It will be only in October that Euro IV-compliant vehicles will be rolled out. That means Delhi, the national capital, will not experience a big drop in the levels of pollution for another six months at least. (team-bhp)
  • Country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp is working to extend its fuel efficient i3S technology, which helped improve mileage of Splendor iSmart model, to other sub-brands under the Splendor range."As per the latest (March, 2015) Fuel Efficiency (FE) values, Splendor iSmart returned a mileage of 102.50 kilometer per litre," a Hero MotoCorp spokesperson said. The fuel efficiency of the Splendor iSmart model has been certified by the iCAT ( International Centre for Automotive Technology), he added.When asked if the new technology could be extended to other models, he did not comment.Industry sources, however, said, Hero MotoCorp is working on extending the i3S technology to some of the other models in the Splendor portfolio.(cartrade)

  • Auto component major Bosch has declared a lockout at its Jaipur plant due to the ongoing worker unrest in the facility.
