Conceptualized and developed with the aim of creating an entirely new category, the KUV100 is a compact SUV where ‘K’ stands for the ‘kool’ & trendy generation of youth, while UV represents an SUV. The numeric ‘100’ represents the pecking order of the series which comes in below TUV300 and XUV500. With its aggressive styling and dominating SUV stance, the KUV100 remains true to the tough and rugged Mahindra DNA.

Under the hood, the KUV100 will be powered by the world-class mFALCON, an all-new engine family with options of both petrol (mFALCON, G80) and diesel (mFALCON, D75). Named after a bird of prey, the mFALCON is a compact lightweight engine built to deliver peppy and high performance, much like its namesake. The 1.2L, 82 HP and dual VVT petrol engine and the 1.2L 77 HP turbo-charged diesel engine both deliver high, low-end torque for the perfect SUV performance and an enjoyable drive.

An ambitious project from the very start, the KUV100, is all set to carve its niche amongst first time car buyers with its unique propositions. I am confident that the KUV100, like its predecessors, will become an extremely popular brand and will be cited for taking Mahindra to a whole new orbit”.

Pravin Shah, President & Chief Executive, (Automotive), M & M Ltd. said, “With the evolving aspirations of today’s youth we needed a product that will effectively address their needs for an SUV lifestyle. Being a listening organization, we identified the need gaps among consumers and started planning for the product. Coming from our state of the art manufacturing plant at Chakan, the KUV100 is a no-compromise, next-generation compact SUV that will set the stage for the emergence of an all new category. While being a  market leader in the SUV segment, I am sure that with the addition of the KUV100 in our portfolio, we will effectively address the entire gamut of customer segments from entry level to high end SUV with our product portfolio”.

Designed in-house and engineered at Mahindra’s world class research and development facility, the Mahindra Research Valley at Chennai, the KUV100’s sculpted body with its prominent hood and high beltline has the design of a trendy urban crossover and elements like the headlamp, styled like wrap round shades, give it a whole new dimension. Targeted at the youth and first time car buyers, the KUV100 is contemporary to the core and truly stylized with best in class technologies.  An indigenously developed monocoque SUV, the KUV100 will have many firsts to its credit including the first ground up petrol engine offering from Mahindra. The mono shock suspension helps in maintaining the centre of gravity while a wider turning angle helps CB Hornet 160R to easily manoeuvre through busy city roads. Further improvisations like a longer wheelbase, short turning radius and optimum ground clearance allows the rider to easily navigate through the bad roads with peace of mind.

~Post Flood sanitation campaign planned in 5 affected villages~

Chennai: December 6, 2015: Rain starved Chennai was hit with unprecedented record breaking rains, after a century, leaving in it’s wake a trail of destruction. HMIF, the CSR arm of Hyundai motor India limited, swung into action immediately to help the flood affected. HMIF handed over 5,000 packets (4 chapathis and side dish, 1 packet milk biscuits, 2 bananas) on 4th December, 2015 and 6,000 food packets (2 Jam buns and 1 box of rice dish (puliyogare & chips) on 5th December, 2015 to the flood-relief teams set-up by the Tamil Nadu Government. These food packets have been airdropped to needy in the flooded areas in and around the Chennai city by Air Force Personnel operating from Tambaram Air Base.
Today, Mr. Young Key Koo –Managing Director, HMIL and Mr. Vinayagam G, President, United Union of Hyundai Employees (UUHE) along with HMIF team members and HMIL volunteers visited Vengadu and Nemily villages in Sriperumbudur and distributed essential items like clothing for an entire family, blankets, towels and 20 litre water cans to 200 families. Similar items will be distributed in the villages of Perinjampakkam, Ottankaranai and Thathanur followed by distribution of utensils and provisions to sustain the families for 10 days. The relief measures will benefit 1000 families in these most affected villages and is expected to be completed by Dec 14th 2015. Paucity of essential materials is hampering relief work.
Once the rains and the water recedes, HMIF will conduct a complete sanitization campaign for these same villages. Cleaning the entire village with tractors, mosquito fogging, spraying bleaching powder and cleaning water bodies are some of the activities on the anvil, to help the villages return to normalcy.
Commenting on the relief measures, Mr. YK Koo, Managing Director, Hyundai Motor India Limited “ It is really sad to witness this intensity of the disaster. This state gave us our home and this is just a small gesture from our side to the people of Tamil Nadu. I salute the people of Tamil Nadu for their resilience in fighting this calamity ”
In late November, HMIF distributed around 1000 Mats, 1,000 bed-sheets, 500 tarpaulins, 2,500 biscuit packets, 1,000 bread packets and 500 water tubs [20 litres] to 5 villages of Ettikuthimedu, Akkamapuram, Vellarai, KK Nagar, Kaduvancery of the Sriperumbudur block. These were among the worst affected areas in the region. HMIL volunteers with representatives from HMIF, UUHE (United Union of Hyundai Employees) handed over these items to 500 flood-affected families in the presence of the local government officials and respective panchayat presidents.
These efforts cannot restore what is lost, but will definitely help the affected take the road to recovery and reconstruct their lives.
